Last night (22/02/17) just before 8PM South African time in Grahamstown South Africa, I witnessed 2 lights moving from the northern horizon to the eastern horizon, where a bright light, that I originally assumed to be a satellite appeared to be followed by a second, less bright light. The lights stayed about the same distance apart throughout the sighting, the distance appeared to be quite large between the 2 lights (too large to be part of a single aircraft)(call it 10 degrees of separation). The object(s) continued to move across the eastern horizon until the less bright light finally faded into the night after about 2 minutes of observation. The rear light moved as though it were connected by a tether to the front light, changing its position, but not distance, relative to the lead light ever so slightly once or twice. The objects followed a curved trajectory, unlike any satellite that I have ever seen, but there was no dramatic change in direction.
I was thinking maybe it could be a Space X type vehicle, given the brightness of the 2 objects, however, there was no evident change in distance or speed between the 2 lights and I'm not sure if something like that would be visible in the southern skies. Another theory is a satellite and some space junk, however the path that
anyone else ever seen something like this?
