The #1 Paranormal News Site
This happened circa March 1st 2017. First, some relevant yet boring backstory: I'm on the brink of moving back to my hometown, and was there looking at apartments and stuff for a week. I stayed in a hotel, but was out with friends much of the time and very familiar with the area. I was almost not surprised to see the UFO; I know of multiple people who've seen weird shit in this town/county/whatever.
It was probably around 9 o'clock at night. I was with two of my best friends(J and K), we'd been out downtown for a while and decided to spend the night at J's house. We drove back to my hotel so I could grab a few things, and as we pulled into the parking lot we saw it.
It was pretty much right over my hotel. The best way I can describe its appearance is like a big ball of lights. Not like each light was a separate craft, it was like if you took a bunch of tail- and headlights from who knows how many cars and just wadded them up into a ball. The lights were orange, red, and whitish, and clearly all one vaguely spherical structure. For some reason it was impossible to tell how big or how high up it was–it could've been 100 feet in the air and the size of a minivan, or a mile up and that much bigger, we couldn't judge. It was just kinda hangin out up there, not moving, not making any noise at all. Just…there.
We ran inside to get my stuff, and when we came back out it was still there and hadn't moved. K and I tried to convince J to drive around the block as we left so we could see it better and get a picture, but she's scared to death of anything paranormal and refused.
I know this town like the back of my hand, so even in the dark I knew there was nothing that thing could be suspended from or otherwise attached to, and no neon signs or anything like that that even remotely resembled what we saw.
The interesting thing to me is that in the few days prior, the town was affected by two major power outages that no one could explain. The first, the power to the entire harbor and one of the main roads went out. The workers in all the shops at the harbor(it's basically only half actual harbor and half tourist trap) were caught off guard–we went to get some ice cream, and the poor girl working there had to turn us away since it had all melted, but she wasn't allowed to close because no one knew what was going on. A night or two later, power in the entire city went out, one section at a time. However, it wasn't in any logical order, just random chunks of the city at a time. It also started in the part of town where my hotel was located. Obviously not necessarily correlated, but I found it worth mentioning.
I've been a believer ever since my best friend and her family told me their experiences, but this was the first time I'd ever actually seen a UFO myself. Who knows, maybe there's some really obvious mundane explanation for it that didn't occur to me or my friends, but I will say that it definitely made me glad I wasn't staying at the hotel that night.
