Ever found something weird in your drink, such as an insect or a piece of who knows what it is that is stuck to the bottom of the bottle? Imagine finding something like that, but a thousand times worst.

Most of the time our curiosity will always get the better of us. To Barbara Kline, that is a statement that is grossly true when she let curiosity kill the cat and cut open her bottle of coconut water when she felt it tasted gross.

Now. Guess what Barbara Kline, mother of two kids, a nurse and due to her discovery and consuming the infected coconut water, caused her to be plagued by diarrhea and sickness for the next few days. Barbara Kline has since then claimed that even coconut water is the first drink in her entire life that she will never ever drink again, even though just days ago she was an avid fan of Vita’s Pure Coconut water.

She was more than furious and immediately took proofs and submitted them online to ask for the opinion of others on what this substance found at the bottom of her drink could be. Weirdly, the mass seems to be a lump that looks rather alien-ish, or even like a dead, rotten squid.

Barbara Kline has said that nothing was done to tamper with the drink, and she understands about mould and drinks getting spoiled, but a whole lump of weird substances that big crosses her threshold and felt that she needed to complain about it as it could be life-threatening to other consumers if similar substances were found in drinks.

She has claimed that she has done nothing but leave the drink in the fridge until she decided to open it to drink it, which was when she found the drink to be incredibly offensive to her taste buds. She claimed to have accidentally swallowed one lump, which is one of the reasons why she was enraged and took this issue to the internet and authorities. She has since passed back a sample to Vita for them to test but has kept a separate sample for independent testing.

This brings to show we never really know what is put into our pre-packaged drinks and food. Do we know what is ended until one of us is unlucky to get the rotten apple of the batch? No one knows, but we hope that as time passes, food safety continues to improve, rather than deteriorate. Being afraid of eating food, in general, seems too scary of thought even to comprehend, but with the rise of fake food scandals all over the world, that reality might just become the truth shortly if we governments and authorities do not properly implement strict regulations.
