Hi ya'll, ill try to keep this short.

In around March of 2013 I was outside around 10-11 PM Mountain time with a pair of binoculars looking at stars. I was facing directly north when a red "satellite" appeared directly overhead near the zenith heading East-to-West; if it was in orbit, this would have been a retrograde orbit, going against the rotation of the earth, which is strange given most countries (except Israel) dont usually launch satellites into retrograde orbits. I was able to look at it with my binoculars but couldn't make any details out, it just looked like a red-orange blob with what seemed to be a strange orbit.

If it was in our atmosphere, it made no noise at all.

After about 15-30 seconds of looking at this thing (not sure how fast it was going or far it had gone in the sky) it started to accelerate! Its acceleration was very quick, going from a steady pace to going super-fast and quickly disappearing/"dematerializing" like nothing had been there (which isn't what airplanes do, in both terms of acceleration and suddenly vanishing). To help visualize this acceleration, imagine a F1 car driving down a straight road at 60MPH then suddenly accelerating to over 150MPH in less half a second. Acceleration is not something satellites do, and especially not how this thing seemed to have maneuvered.

I had seen the ISS before I saw this and even had taken long-exposure pictures of it, and since then have been outside countless hours with telescopes and DSLRs doing astrophotography. I have seen shooting stars, iridium flares, normal satellites, planes/helicopters ect, but this has eluded me for over three years now and its really bothering me as of lately.

If you have any idea what it might have been (or have seen something like this), whether it be commercial/military/natural/aliens, please let me know, I would like to brainstorm on this. This topic has been a morbid interest ever since and I would love to make sense of it all, like I imagine most of you do too.
