I learned about this case not long ago. I've been trying to research it but there isn't much out there. The official story is that in June 68 during the height of the Vietnam war. A friendly fire incident involving 3 USAF Phantom jets, 2 PFC riverboats, an Australian destroyer, and US cruiser. Resulting in the sinking of one shift boat and damage to the Australian destroyer and 2 dead Australian sailors and multiple wounded. The damage supposedly came from the Phantom jets misidentifying targets(the PFC, destroyer, and cruiser) all hit by the Phantom's sparrow missiles. But the official details do not add up to the crew's and pilot's testimony. And was later acknowledged by the USAF General Brown who was the Air Force's supreme commander during the incident and testified later that they were plagued by UFOs during the Vietnam war. And were referred to as 'enemy helicopters'.

The North Vietnamese had no attack helicopters. The only helicopters they had were a few Russian built cargo helicopters far from the DMZ. Which is supposedly what the swift boats came under fire from. However after further investigation the swift boats were confirmed being hit from their own rounds. If anyone has any further info on this case I would like to see it. Maybe if the gentlemen from the blackvault has any FOIAs for General Brown or 'enemy helicopters' from the war we might be able to piece some things together.
