Chinese media outlets are reporting that the Chinese have deployed a number of highly advanced strategic missile launchers in Heilongjiang Province, which borders Russia. It is generally accepted that the timing of this military deployment was intended to coincide with the inauguration of Donald Trump as the President of the United States.
Chinese military deploys highly advanced missiles in a show of strength against Donald Trump
The missiles the Chinese military have deployed are DF-41 missiles. These are three stage solid propellant missiles with an estimated range of 15,000km which can deliver up to ten MIRVed nuclear warheads to a target. As of yet, the capabilities of the missile have not been displayed to the general public in any of China’s frequent military parades, and the full extent of the damage that the weapon can cause is a matter of tremendous secrecy.
According to military analyst Konstantin Sivkov, the fact that the missiles have been deployed close to the Russian border does not mean that China means any harm to Russia or the Russia people. “DF-41 missiles placed near Russia’s border are a smaller threat than if they were placed deeper in the Chinese territory. Such missiles usually have a very large ‘dead zone’ he said. The Kremlin have affirmed this view and have stated that China is one of Russia’s greatest political and economic allies, and the two nations have no intention of attacking Russia. “Certainly, the actions of the Chinese military, if the reports prove correct, the military build-up in China is not perceived as a threat to our country, ” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The country that really needs to be concerned is, in fact, the United States of America. The Chinese government is renowned for their military shows of strength whenever they perceive that they are being threatened by a rival nation. Donald Trump’s elevation to President of the United States has caused a great deal of disquiet in Beijing because of his combative attitude towards the country. On the campaign trial, Trump consistently pledged to take manufacturing jobs from China and provocatively threatened to end the ‘One China policy’ which rejects the Taiwanese claims to independence. Trump also gave American voters the impression that he was capable of strong-arming the Chinese government into a better deal, something which the Chinese strongly took umbrage at.
