Tensions between China and the United States have been running high for over a year. An armed conflict could be just around the corner. China has been flexing its gun power since US foreign policy has been changing.
China Aircraft Carriers Could Hit US Areas Soon
In October 2015, the US decided to sail through 12-miles of murky, tension-filled area of the South China Sea. This area is near the Spratly Islands. China claims this is their water. The US claims it is international water that anyone may use. In March 2016, the US Navy sent a fleet to the South China Sea, at least the US is not blaming the whole debacle on China. It has admitted its wrongdoing. This whole incident was due to China dispatching a missile battery to the Paracel Islands, which the US believe was China’s way of arming oneself.
On December 25, 2015, China took to The Global Times to show its military power. This has caused fear that shortly the US will wake up one day with aircraft carriers in offshore areas of the US, which could lead to war. Ash Carter, a Defense Secretary for the US, states in March they recommended to China to stand down and to not arm the ships. If they do arm, certain actions from the US will happen. Not only has tensions been running high with China, but the US is also in the same position with Russia. This could perhaps lead to war with two superpowers.
I think this article is onto something. Watching the news, it feels like the global world is on edge. I feel like it will not take long until a domino is pushed over, setting into motions actions that will have bad consequences. With Donald Trump becoming president and the lack of morals in today’s society, it will not take much for Donald Trump to upset the wrong person. What scary times we live in! Be thankful for everyday you have and make plans for how you would live your life if a war would occur.
