The #1 Paranormal News Site
This week was a giant mess. I went from reading analysis online wherein someone theorized that the ejecta from Spacetronaut Kean 9000's UFO was perhaps coolant being expressed after travelling at a high rate of speed through space. Craft enters atmospere, heat exchangers spin up, ejecta comes out. It reminded me of the scene in War of the Worlds when the tripod first stands up and makes a sound like the biggest diesel engine in the world starts up, squirting out oil as it comes up to speed. I fu**ing loved it.
Then the whole thing gets cracked wide open merely by reading the actual report referenced in Kean's article. She dismisses it while 90% of people with a mind for this stuff apparently read it and walk away wondering what in christ she was thinking to go so public on a thing like this on a big huge news website. This was a clusterfuck. This was her way to get some attention in the run-up to her next book and literally 1 week before she went into the studio to record the audiobook version of the new-new. And then, like a cherry on top of this shitsundae — the world finds out that the book is about the god damn afterlife.
I imagined myself as a remote control 4×4 truck at the base of a 10ft vert ramp. My throttle maxxed, desperately spinning my wheels and I discover that the ramp is made of wet ice and it's 45 ft high. Even if I had a nuclear reactor powering my little electric motor, I can barely get past the 1% mark, even if I spent a billion years trying, I'll never, ever make it up that vert ramp.
I read awhile back that we need something like a earth-sized lens size "or focal length?" to be able to spot structures on exoplanets. Maybe that's how & when answers will arrive. When we can spot them ourselves and be like Ellie in Contact when she sees an exoplanet up close with intricate lights on a darkened hemisphere of a mysterios world and says "they're alive". I'm afraid I might be leaning more toward the "let's go look harder for them" camp right now than the "they're coming/they're here" camp.
Anyway… does anyone else feel deflated or more sober than they want to be? I actually feel pretty bad for Kean at the moment, this is bad for her. It's as close to a social media firestorm as I've seen in the UFO community and the blowback against her has been swift but appropriate. Yesterday I saw that the big news sites had picked up the HuffPo story and others covered the HuffPo story AND Jim Oberg's damning 2010 rebuttal to her book (notably without her followup about Oberg missing the point). So far I have not seen or heard a peep of apology from Kean on Twitter or on the interview she gave, live, last night. It's all I'd want or expect at this point and I'd be right back in her corner. I should say that I am a paying customer of hers, an owner of the book which I liked a lot and to be honest felt like she was the most credible activist/journalist we have. Now I feel like if she doesn't get out ahead of this and say "oops" publicly then this is it for her for a lot of folks – me among them. Especially now that most of the world learned on the same day that she (1)ignored an excellent technical report on this sighting and (2) rode the online publicity equivalent of a 10ft high unicycle through the middle of Times Square, naked, to announce that she has been using her time, energy and contacts to write a nonfiction book about life after death…. and that she describes the book as being just like "UFOs, Pilots Generals Go on the Record" using accounts and stories that she deemed credible. Sadface icon. Roll eyes thing. Jaw drop gif.
Just looking to commiserate. Thanks Gangsters.
