The US Government used to be sloppy (as in "accidentally honest") with it's handling of the UFO subject in the press in the 40s and 50s. We don't hear very much about FLYING SAUCERS anymore from the government… I wonder why… LOL
The Truman era was the only point in time when FLYING SAUCERS was openly discussed in the media. It's a fascinating part of our history.
FLYING SAUCERS buzzed our US capitol on two consecutive weekends in July 1952. The public and the government were freaked out when this happened. This press conference happened after the first incident, but before the second.
I wonder if this particular subject is being printed in history books for elementary and high schools for the young to learn about? Probably not. Even the HBO 1995 documentary about Truman skipped over the subject entirely. Even if the UFOs are not extraterrestrial, these events happened and are a part of US history. Why are events like these being skipped over in our history books? It makes it much more obvious that the government is trying to hide information, and that the public is in denial of the truth: aliens are real.
It's pretty wild having members of the government acknowledging the reality of FLYING SAUCERS. It's not an outdated term from the 50s. It's a term that lends credibility to the physical existence of these objects, and it's a term that indicates that these discs are extraterrestrial in nature. This is why it is not used anymore. It brings the reality of the existence of aliens closer to the public.
