Petition to Replicate Deadly Alien Craft in Burnham Gains Footing.
Nick Gilmour, a denizen of Sheerwater Close, has come up with a bizarre plan to entice more tourists to visit Burnham. He is calling for the construction of a 100+ foot tall replica of an alien craft, or “tripod, “from H.G. Wells’s book, The War of the Worlds.
The War of the Worlds is a story of mankind’s struggle to survive amidst a devastating alien attack, in which the invaders use huge three-legged machines to move across the Earth’s surface and wipe out every human in sight. The flexible legs allow them to scour nearly any terrain, and their plasma-based beam weapons can vaporize any living organism instantly. It is rumored that experimental weapons of this type are already being tested by the world’s leading military forces, and robotics technology has advanced so quickly in recent years that the actual construction of such a machine is entirely possible.
The above photo shows the frightening size of a tripod in comparison to the people and structures of a small city.
Gilmour has not talked about many specifics of the project as of yet, declining to reveal where the funding will come from, who will build the apparatus, or how close it will be to the original in terms of function. It is also unclear whether or not he intends to build more tripods.
The petition has already amassed many votes, and a growing number of Burnham residents are joining Gilmour’s movement as we speak. Countless E.T. Enthusiasts from around the globe have also expressed their fascination through various social media outlets. Even the Maldon District Council has expressed their complete and absolute support after a mysterious “confidential” meeting between Gilmour and MPs Priti Patel and John Whittingdale.
Though both Nick Gilmour and town of Sheerwater Close are currently a bit under-the-radar, the construction of this ship could soon bring them both into the spotlight. And perhaps bring the rest of us into the spotlight of forces we can’t imagine.
