Is it possible, or plausible, that our trip to Mars is actually a trip home? As reported by new research, Mars was a superior place for life to start billions of years ago in comparison to Earth. This suggests that life as we know it may have begun on Mars before appearing here on Earth.
Was Life On Earth Originated From An Asteroid From Mars?
The data of the possible beginning of life being on Mars instead of Earth was formed on how the first molecules mandatory for life were assembled. It has been long speculated by scientists how atoms originally came together to fashion the RNA, DNA, and proteins crucial for living organisms. In a hypothesis made by Professor Steven Benne at the Goldschmidt Meeting in Florence, Italy, scientists suggested that the molecules that came together to shape genetic material are much more complicated than the prebiotic mixture of carbon-based chemicals that is thought to have been living on Earth more than three billion years ago.
RNA is believed to have been the earliest of life’s ingredients to come into sight. However, the addition of energy to heat or light to the primary organic molecules in primordial soup does not create RNA. On the contrary, it creates tar. Alternatively, as noted by BBC, RNA needs to be “coaxed” into a formation by “templating” atoms at the crystalline surfaces of minerals. In an argument made by Benner, the minerals most productive at succeeding at this would have been more bountiful on the Red Planet.
Even with what we knew about Mars before this research surfaced, I definitely think that it’s possible that life originated on Mars, rather than here on Earth. It is so habitable to life as it is and ruling out the possibility that life may have begun there would be ignorant, arrogant, and foolish. I am personally very open to this theory and plan to investigate further into the intriguing concept.
