Perhaps not the wisest of moves and one that ended up getting one elementary school teacher Zablocki Elementary School located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin who used the board game as a prop.
Teacher Uses Ouija Board in Class
The teacher decided that the Ouija could be used it while telling scary stories to her class. Wait, Ouija board and scary stories, not a good combination, which was sure to back fire which it did. The fact that the teacher was using the Ouija Board as a prop for these stories came to the attention of school officials when one of the students starting having nightmares and told their parents. The teacher defended the use stating the Ouija had been used only as a prop not to contact the spirit world. Still, given the reputation of the Ouija was it wise to have used it at all.
Ironically the Ouija had a humble beginning starting out as a parlor game in the late 1800’s. The board was created by a businessman by the name of Elijah Bon and the rights to it eventually were sold to Parker Brother’s in the 1960’s who than mass produced it. But somewhere down the line the board got it’s notorious reputation as being a way to communicate with the dead. It also became something else, something to fear.
It may sound silly to some, but many claims there is a bad aura that now surrounds the Ouija. The late author and psychic Sylvia Brown use to be quoted as saying that these boards had negative energy around them. But she wasn’t alone in this claim; even movies have depicted the board as being anything but user-friendly. Yes, some could laugh that it is just a board made of wood and that those who believe there is anything other worldly about it are allowing their imaginations to get the better of them or are perpetuating hoaxes. But for anyone who has been around an Ouija Board themselves they know that this isn’t just something made wood, there is a feeling that comes over a person when they are around them. Perhaps all the more reason to keep the Ouija Board out of the class room.
