Roscosmos have said that it is estimated that the lunar landing will happen in the year 2030 which is why they are keen to enlist brand new cosmonauts, under the age of thirty-five, for the mission. The brand new cosmonauts are expected to have a high standard of education across various fields. The applicants must have skills in both physics and computer science as well as high academics in both Russian and another foreign language. Somewhat unusually, the application also states that candidates are expected to be highly proficient in both email and anti-virus protection.
The applicants are also expected to be physically fit and will need to prove that they are up to the task by swimming 800 meters and either running one kilometers or cross-country skiing five kilometers. The application states that there will be no discrimination by either sex or race.
Not since NASA sent a team to set foot on the surface of the Moon for the first time in the 1960s has there been such international interest in exploring the Earth’s natural satellite. The Russian space agency is one of many different organizations throughout the world that is currently setting its sights on lunar exploration. In addition to a number of private corporations seeking to explore the moon in the course of the next few decades, the Chinese government is also building a space craft which will be able to take as many as six of their astronauts to the lunar surface.
