Denied entry into school, shunned and ridiculed by the public, Tarik from Uttar Pradesh, India has colossal sized hands!
Much like the elephant foot disease, Tarik’s hands are as long as a foot and oversized, disgusting his peers and scaring his mates.
Tarik has a real problem. He is a freak among his society. Others refer to him as evil, ‘devilish’; however, his mother thinks otherwise. A gift from God she proclaims he is, someone who will eventually be cured of his ailments. His father would take him around India from doctor to doctor in hopes for an answer, a cure to his huge hands, but with no luck.
Now the boy’s father is dead, and his mother and brother are his only source of comfort. Tarik says he once had friends, but as the years progressed and people became more serious, his condition was too much his friends to handle, and Tarik is forced into a life of solitude and loneliness.
Many pray for people like Tarik, who with some help can become normal like the rest of his former friends. His difficulties are as follows:
He has trouble putting on his clothing (his brother must assist him)
He is shunned by the community and forced to live in an isolated type situation where only his close family members have contact with him.
He wants to study, but the schools and society claim him as ‘evil, ‘ and his hands are too disturbing for the officials of the school to allow him access.
He is alienated by society and wants only to fit in and become normal.
He is extremely saddened by his predicament and is praying for his condition to become cured.
The schools will not even allow him into the buildings due to his condition! He wants to study, but his hands are too disturbing for others to be around. He longs for the day where he will become normal. With surgical, medical technology, I wouldn’t count him out as being a realist. The possibilities for his normal advancement through the world like the rest of his peers is definitely a something that may happen! Best of luck to Tarik!
