So what are these creations? Crashed UF-Dough, made of edible chocolate chip cookie dough, and alien egg nachos, a deep fried avocado with a beat inside, all on top of homemade potato chips, brisket, beans, queso and barbecue sauce.
KOB spoke to Melissa Verciglio, owner of Just Say Dough, who shared the passion that led to creating the unique delicacy.
“I’ve been baking since I was about 11 and I have all my own cookie recipes that I like to bake and share with friends,” Verciglio said.
Soon, you’ll be able to catch this cosmic confection creator’s sweet treat featured on the Food Network.
“We filmed the process of making the chocolate chip cookie dough and the Crashed UF-Dough which is our signature dish for the UFO Festival,” Verciglio said.
The treat includes edible cookie dough, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, crushed cookies, and, of course, an alien gummy.
Black Betty Barbecue, a local hot spot in Roswell will also be featured on the Food Network. Imagine a sci-fi-looking plate of brisket nachos topped with an alien egg.
“The boss was just, ‘Go ahead and try something different.’ Sure enough, they were selling like hot cakes,” said Adam Means, assistant pit master at Black Betty.
If festival-goers want to pick up something from Black Betty or Just Say Dough, they can catch them all the weekend long at the UFO Festival.
You can also catch them on the Food Network during the next season of Carnival Eats.
