A UFO has been caught on camera flying over Sheffield city centre, alien enthusiasts believe.

A mysterious bright light was filmed hovering over the midlands a just few days after Christmas, rising into the night sky.

Footage of the supposed alien spacecraft, titled ‘UFO in Sheffield’, has racked up more than 10,000 views since it was posted on YouTube.

The footage, which was filmed early in the morning of December 27, was shot by a CCTV camera at the University of Sheffield.

The fixed camera was set up to monitor peregrines in their nestbox atop the University’s St George’s Church lecture theatre, including one bird that features in the UFO footage.

But at 7.18am, the camera caught something else flying in the sky.

Social media user ‘Wendy Bartter’ on YouTube believes the camera caught the moment a UFO passed over the city.

Other viewers agreed with one questioning if the craft came from Mars.

They wrote: “Could be from Mars it is over that way in the morning.”

Wendy responded: “That’s the main consensus Scott, having taken off from Doncaster, but would have been exciting if Venus or alien spacecraft.”

Others disagreed, with one person commenting: “Could this be a plane with lights on flying towards the camera?”

Another wrote: “Are you serious? a UFO?? slow moving light – it’s an airplane!

“Best is the bird sleeping and so should you! stop posting stupid vids of nothing! (sic)”
