I was eleven years old. we were staying in a house in auckland and i awoke from my sleep after midnight maybe 1-2am for no reason, i did not need to go to the toilet, there had been no noise. i felt drawn to the lounge window and was mesmerised by this object i saw in the sky. i knew that it couldn’t be a plane as it just hovered in the air for few minutes and then would go up on a 45 degree angle, hover again. it was not behaving as any aircraft would, there was no noise. i saw it as a light. it landed across other side of a lake on the grass for short time. i felt as if i was awoken and drawn to go and see it. it seemed strange to me in the morning that i had not thought to wake anyone to see it, itor to get a camera and photograph it, it w as if i was under its spell somehow. in the end it took off at a great speed. in the morning i saw a large round depression in the grass on the other side of the lake. this happened over thirty years ago and i have never forgotten it. just learned about this site so thought i would post my sighting.
