Standing on my porch in the dark looking at the stars. the area in front of me was a forest which has been clear cut, offering great views for miles. i could see the prison complex about 7 miles away with ease. i looked to the south and saw a shiny, star like object almost at tree top level about a mile away and moving fast in my direction. i started to tell the wife to come look but it was already directly in front of me (east) still at about 100′ of elevation moving rapidly north. i continued to view it for maybe 3 seconds until it had passed the prison complex and past my visual horizon. the object was star-like in appearance and moving fast, as i said. it covered maybe 10 miles in a couple of seconds. i’m prior air force and i haven’t seen anything this fast. there was no sound
