My husband, friends and i were lighting fireworks for new years when what we thought was a rocket launch took place. we watched though as each of 5 crafts dropped 10 glowing items, all in the same pattern every time. they glow orange and red individually. very strange, and my wife is from new mexico where they went outside santa fe city to ufo watch. they launch every half hour. they flew from the east to the south in a curve and disappear in the distance. there were airliners high above them; they were flying pretty low in comparison. no sonic boom, which floridians are used to for ladies and re-entries.
