I was in my car waiting for my son at a friend’s home on a dark winter evening with a clear sky when i observed a very bight and distinct light in the sky. it appeared to be larger than venus and at least as bright. however, it was observed approximately 20 degrees north north east. i exited my vehicle to have a better look and it was then that it began a controlled decent that was not unlike that of a meteorite but much, much slower yet much faster than any aircraft i have observed. it’s trajectory was almost vertical but not quite. it disappeared below the treeline and that is where my visual sighting ceased. i must emphasize that the trajectory was extremely unusual and controlled. it looked like a slow moving meteorite. had it been a meteorite their certainly would have been an explosive event due to it’s size. i grew up in city with a major norad base and have observed many types of military aircraft. this was unlike anything i have ever seen. very bizarre. the object descended from approximately 30 to 35 degrees above the horizon and it’s decent took approximately five seconds.
