I was letting my dog out for a tinkle around half nine and i always look to the stars especially tonight in case of any straggling meteors from the recent perseids. looked at a really bright star in the sky, right of the plough constellation. i watched it for about five minutes then noticed flashing red/orange/white lights on it. observers the object going vertical slowly then move to the right and then descend but stayed hovering in the air. assumed it was a helicopter but i thought it was too far away tonne able to see flashing lights. object stayed stationary for at least 40 mins. i then observed it swaying slightly side to side. then as mended slightly again and then stayed stationary. all the time the lights were flashing. decided since it was stationary i would grab my telescope and take a look. before focussing with the lens it looked like a star but upon zooming for a clearer picture, seen it looked like a teeny silver boomerang in the sky. this object was many many miles away. it’s currently 11.23pm on 15 august 2017 and the object is still there.
