Not sure if this is the sub for this, but I didn't find anywhere else suitable to ask this question. Anyway, I was having a bike ride tonight and saw a few lights that looked like they part of a radio tower. A minute or two later, I was riding a bit closer to the lights, but they looked like they were hovering above some houses across the street at helicopter level. So not a radio tower. After another 30 seconds or so, the lights, after being still for some time, started moving away.

Only thing is, the lights were fairly spaced apart, and formed a light formation that I would figure to be for a tiltrotor aircraft: two lights for either side of the helicopter under the rotors and two flashing red lights in the middle. It wasn't a drone, because it flew over to the mountains after a few minutes. Obviously wasn't an airplane, because it was hovering for a while, but it didn't have any light patterns remotely similar to 99% of helicopters that I spot at night. And after researching a bit, tiltrotor aircraft are mostly used by the military or are in prototype stages. So I'm confused on what it was. My best guess is that it was a prototype tiltrotor aircraft from the nearby air force base, but maybe it was aliens.
