The Ethereum blockchain is going to be used by the UN for the distribution of funds to more than 10,000 people in Jordan from the World Food Program. The network will ensure that humanitarian giving is going to not only be easier but also more secure.
Blockchains Network Make Internet Giving More Secure And Easier
The technology of today has helped to improve the lives of people and the computer networks that were behind Bitcoins have made advancements in many ways, with one important one being that giving is going to be simpler and a lot more secure than it was before thanks to a network called blockchains.
Blockchains are digital ledgers that are decentralized, which allow for a level of transparency that is incomparable and which had security that is cryptography based, which means it is optimal when it comes to making along with monitoring any transactions online. The middleman, which is the bank, is taken out of the equation and transferring funds becomes a great deal more streamlined along with safe.
Ethereum Is The Choice Of United Nations For Distribution Of Funds
The United Nations have chosen Ethereum as a way in which to distribute funds out of the World Food Program earlier on this year when they sent aid to 100 people in Pakistan. They have used it to meet an even bigger challenge as on May 1 they used the system in Jordan to distribute funds to over 10,000. The amount of money dispensed has not been revealed so as to provide protection for those who accept aid from the WFP. If all goes well the United Nations hope to make use of the blockchain so that they can support as many as 500,000 people by 2018.
The program has been designed to show off the blockchains technology aptitude in regards to the distribution of humanitarian aid to those who need it. It has also been considered to be a strategic investment for the United Nations, the digital infrastructure is resilient and this means that charitable services can outlive the UN.
Now the United Nations is looking into more ways to use the blockchain so that they can optimize the distribution of aid. Houman Haddad, the WFP financial officer, said that the strategies include sending money to food stores as opposed to giving it to the recipients. This would cut down transactions along with them being able to use cryptocurrency instead of currency issued by the state to stop currency volatility.
The World Food Program, with the help of the blockchain, may potentially help over 80 million people every year and as time goes on this number may even expand.
