A video of the strange formation of lights supposedly filmed above in northern France this month has appeared on YouTube.
Reports of the weird flashing object have appeared on UFO forums and even national newspaper websites.
A resident of the northern French coastal town filmed the UFO on a smartphone until his battery died.
The report said: “Footage of the ‘UFO’ sees a silent object with several lights connected to it seemingly flaring as it hovers above the French coastal town.
“The clip has been viewed over 2,000 times on YouTube, where it was posted on February 10.”
But, the mystery became stranger when it emerged the same footage had been uploaded to a different YouTube channel in November, under the headline “Massive UFO
Sighting Caught on Camera Over Texas”.
It included the same UFO over the same street scene which did not appear to resemble anywhere in Texas.
UFO sleuth Scott Brando appears to have solved the mystery of the UFO footage and concluded it is nothing but a hoax.
The Italian, who forensically examines alleged UFO video and pictures, was able to identify the backdrop used in the videos claiming
to be in Texas and Normandy and discovered it was actually in Edinburgh.
The image had been stolen from a blog on wordpress.com, Mr Brando discovered.
Mr Brando, who exposes hoaxes on his website ufoofinterest.org, said the weird UFO was then simply added using CGI digital manipulation.
After exposing the hoax, he tweeted a number of websites that ran the Normandy UFO story saying: “No, there is no #UFO over #Normandy. First, it was an old video re-shared…
“Second, it’s a verified fake. Here’s the background image used by the hoaxer.”
